Training programs

There are many training programs available online. Many make ridiculous claims about how much strength you will gain or weight you will lose from a particular workout or exercise machine... usually in just a few days. But if it were really that quick and easy, we would all be super fit and healthy with the body to match. The purpose of this site is to review the most popular fitness programs, strength programs and exercise for weight loss programs that are available online. Our mission is to help you find the one that works for you. To help make the site user friendly we have divided it into several content areas depending on the purpose of the exercise program. As a result there is some minor overlap between content areas. You can navigate between the areas that are of interest to you through the tabs on the menu bar (above).

Strength training

Strength training usually relies on resistance exercises. The resistence may come from body weight (e.g. squats), free weights or weight stacks, hydraulic pressure (some gym apparatus), an elastic material, or anything else that can opposes the force of a muscle contraction. Although many people primarily do strength training exercises to increase muscle mass or tone up, there are a range of other benefits. This makes strength training very popular. There are many different strength training programs available.

Core strength training

Core strength training programs focus on increasing the strength and sometimes the activation of trunk muscles. Like other strength training programs core strength training relies on resistance. One common difference between core strength and other strength training is the way in which resistance is applied. There is much more to core strength than simply doing sit ups to workout rectus abdominis (the 'six pack' muscle). Core strength training programs often require a little bit of innovation in order to provide resistance to the desired muscle contractions, or activate the target muscles. In addition to supporting your back, core strength is very important in a number of athletic pursuits. An athlete's performance in sports such as baseball, football, golf, tennis, basketball, hockey, swimming, and soccer is dependent on their core strength. For this reason a number of programs specifically for core strength training have been developed.

Increasing vertical jump

Programs to increase vertical jump height aim to help individuals reach their potential in a number of sports. Increasing the height of your vertical jump often involves specific training to increase the strength and power of muscles in your legs. However, there are other important elements for achieving real improvements in your vertical jump. We have reviewed several programs specifically designed to increase vertical jump height. Some of these programs can be very useful for an athlete who wants to gain an edge over their opponents. However, if you are a coach or trainer for basketball, volleyball, athletics or any other sport that requires explosive power (like football), may find these programs particularly useful to help your athletes.

Weight loss program

There are a variety of programs for weight loss available online. You've no doubt seen advertisements spruking massive weight loss for minimal or no effort! The results that many promote are not typical (or even possible in some cases). You should not choose a program simply because they claim you will lose X Pounds in X days. Anyone can make these claims and then use a couple of photos to try and sell the story. Instead, look for a program that has helped people lose weight and keep it off. You will need to find one will suit your lifestyle, current fitness level, budget (not everyone can afford expensive equipment) and it needs to be something you are interested in. After all, for real success you will need to keep at it for more than a week! We have reviewed a number of weight loss programs for a range of fitness levels. Please have a read through and find a weight loss program that suits you. Always keep in mind that there are two important components to the weight loss equation: ENERGY IN (diet) and ENERGY OUT (influenced by exercise). Any additional calories you eat will offset the calories burned during exercise (which is good if you want to stay the same weight). If you want to lose weight and keep it off, both diet and exercise is important. Ideally you will want to use a program that increases your metabolism (the amount of calories your body burns, even when you are not exercising).

Programs for women only

Some women prefer exercise programs that are specifically designed just for women. Its not that other generic exercise programs will not work for women (this is definitely not the case), but its a matter of preference. Often programs designed for women have less focus on machines and bulking up and more focus on better muscle tone, body shape and broader health and well being benefits. For this reason we are in the process of reviewing a number of exercise and weight loss programs just for women. In addition to the general program for women, some programs are specifically designed for pregnancy or recovery following pregnancy. We are currently reviewing:

1.
Fit Yummy Yummy
2. Bye Bye Baby Bellie: 12 weeks to success
